Remembering Annie Campbell: A Life Well-Lived (2026)

It’s never easy to say goodbye to a beloved soul, and the passing of Annie Campbell (née McGee) on December 19, 2025, has left a profound void in the hearts of many. But here’s where it gets poignant—Annie’s life, though marked by loss, was also a testament to love, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family. Formerly of Gorey, Co. Wexford, and later of Richmond Park, Corbally, Limerick, Annie spent her final days in the compassionate care of Corbally House Nursing Home, where she peacefully departed this world.

Annie was predeceased by her husband Dan, sons Donie and Jim, and sisters Patsy and Bernie—losses that undoubtedly shaped her journey. Yet, her legacy lives on through her devoted family: children Mary and Johnny, grandchildren Dáithí and Isla, son-in-law David, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of relatives, neighbors, and friends. And this is the part most people miss—Annie’s impact extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of even the staff and residents of Corbally House, who will deeply mourn her absence.

As we reflect on her life, it’s impossible not to wonder: How do we honor those who’ve left such an indelible mark on our hearts? Annie’s family invites you to join them in remembering her at Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate, on Monday, December 22, from 4 pm to 5.30 pm, followed by her removal to St. Mary’s Church, Athlunkard Street. The Requiem Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 23, at 11 am, and for those unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed live at https://www.churchservices.tv/limerickstmaryscatholicchurch.

Here’s where it gets controversial—while flowers are appreciated, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Rare Ireland, a cause close to Annie’s heart. You can contribute by visiting https://rareireland.ie/donate/. Is this the best way to honor a life well-lived? Or should we focus on personal tributes instead? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Annie’s final resting place will be Mount St. Oliver Cemetery, where she’ll be laid to rest alongside those she held dear. As we bid her farewell, let’s remember her not just for the losses she endured, but for the love she shared and the lives she enriched. Rest in Peace, Annie—your story will continue to inspire us all.
