These lanterns, made from traditional Korean paper, hanji, and adorned with trout motifs, are the result of a year-long effort by about 120 dedicated elders from five local townships. Their quiet craftsmanship transforms into a breathtaking public display.
But here's where it gets even more exciting! On Saturdays, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Seondeung Street Festival takes over, bringing a whole new level of energy. Traffic halts, and the street becomes a vibrant hub of entertainment. K-pop cover dances, spontaneous dance battles, DJ sets, magic shows, and even bubble and fire performances create an electric atmosphere. Visitors can also enjoy park-golf, try their luck at various games, get their fortunes told, or have their faces painted. It's a sensory overload!
And this is the part most people miss... Seondeung Street continues to shine every day from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., offering a winter night market experience like no other.
