New surveillance footage reveals an armed, masked intruder at Nancy Guthrie's disappearance

New York: The FBI has unveiled a chilling video and images of a masked intruder tampering with a surveillance camera at Nancy Guthrie's home in the early hours of her disappearance, offering a crucial breakthrough in a mystery that has captivated the nation and the world.
FBI director Kash Patel shared four images from a video, recovered from 'residual data in backend systems', after an eight-day data recovery effort from cameras at Guthrie's 84-year-old home in Tucson, Arizona.
'This morning, law enforcement has uncovered previously inaccessible images of an armed individual tampering with the front door camera on the morning of Nancy's disappearance,' Patel stated.
The black-and-white images depict a masked figure wearing dark gloves, a sweater, pants, and a backpack. Patel then released a 27-second video showing the individual loitering near the front door and a 14-second clip of the person covering the camera with foliage.
It was previously known that a security camera detected a 'person on camera' at 2.12 am on February 1, but no video existed to explain the alert.
Guthrie is the mother of US Today show host Savannah Guthrie, who was born in Melbourne. Savannah has posted videos since her mother's disappearance, including one acknowledging a 'message' from a kidnapper, expressing a willingness to pay a ransom.
Police are yet to verify the authenticity of ransom notes sent to US media outlets.
In a recent Instagram video, Savannah Guthrie pleaded for public assistance, stating, 'We believe our mum is still out there. She was taken, and we don't know where, and we need your help.'
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that President Donald Trump and she reviewed the new FBI images, encouraging anyone with information to come forward. Leavitt expressed the White House's prayers for Savannah and her family, hoping for the safe return of Nancy.
The FBI offers a $50,000 reward for information leading to Guthrie's recovery or the arrest of those involved.
